Mad Max thunders home

Barry Geraghty took time yesterday to collect a monthly award at the Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotels annual awards where Micheal O Muircheartaigh was assisted by John Donohoe (Meath Chronicle) and Alan McEntee (Cusack Hotels).

Barry Geraghty had to make a hasty departure from the Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotels annual awards yesterday to make a flight to England for today's racing at Kempton.

It all proved worthwhile when he won a novices' chase with the Nicky Henderson-trained Mad Max despite a mistake at the second last obstacle.

Returned at 5/6 favourite, Mad Max could be a lively Arkle contender for Cheltenham
