Eddie maguire to fly the flag for ireland in celtic cup

Eddie Maguire who lives in Navan will captain the Team Ireland selection that takes on Scotland in the Celtic Cup tournament for visually impaired golfers at Ballymascanlon Golf Club, Dundalk on Monday 11th May and Tuesday 12th May.
A former senior footballer with Mayo and Meath Maguire has been included on the team along with William Roode, Patrick Morgan, Sam Smith, Drew Corcoran and Jan Dinsdale. 
Maguire will captain the team and he will be hoping to conjure up a performance like he did towards the end of last year when he won the Italian Open in Milan.
Maguire was recently honoured with a Mayo Sports Star-of-the-Year award in Ballina recently.
It will be a busy season for the Irish Blind Golf Society (IBGS) as they have an Irish Tour and Order of Merit Championship which will be contested over nine events.
Also included on their schedule are many international events around the world including the US Open (Atlanta Georgia), Canadian Open (Vancouver), South African Open (Johannesburg), the British Open at Kinross in Scotland, the Italian Open( Milan), the Australian Open (Melbourne), Austrian Open (outside Vienna) and other international events.
The IBGS is supported by Vision Ireland, the Sports Council of Ireland and by Handa Corporation, Japan for international events.
The coach and mentor to the IBGS team is John Langan (Leoparstown Golf Club) who donates all his time and expertise free of charge. John is the son of the late Joe Langan, who was a richly-talented footballer and a colleague of Eddie Maguire on Mayo teams.
