McGrane third at KLM Open

Damien McGrane put in a big performance to tie for third place and €85,000 at the KLM Open in Kennemer, Holland at the weekend although he was left regretting a number of missed opportunities to go all the way and clinch top spot.

The tournament was won by local man Joost Luiten who defeated the Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez in a sudden-death play-off before thousands of spectators.

McGrane shot a very accomplished 69 in the final group with Luiten registering a 68 and Jimenez a 67. That left Luiten and Jimenez tied at 12 under and facing the play-off.
McGrane finished nine under along with Gregory Havret of France and England’s Simon Dyson and Ross Fisher.

“I had plenty of reasonable opportunities, but couldn’t polish them off,” commented the Kells man.
