McGrane stays in touch

Damien McGrane shot a level par 72 to stay in touch with the leaders at the end of the third day of the Scottish Open in Castle Stuart today.

The Kellsman has played consistently well in the tournament to-date comfortably making the cut while others such as Padraig Harrington fell by the wayside.

McGrane remains eight under although he has a long way to go to catch Sweden's Henrik Stenson who will take a two-shot lead into the final round.

Stenson carded a third round of 66 to finish 16 under par with Phil Mickelson also returning a 66 to share second place with South Africa's Brandan Grace, England's John Parry and Denmark's JB Hansen.

Apart from McGrane other Irishmen in the hunt include Gareth Maybin on 13 under and  Shane Lowry and Paul McGinley who are both on seven under after carding 70s.
