McNamara selected

Headfort golfer Rory McNamara has been included in the Golfing Union of Ireland team for the Governor Hugh L Carey Challenge Cup against the Metropolitan Golf Association of New York at Portmarnock. The competition will take place on Tuesday, 5th and Wednesday, 6th May. On the opening day the teams play foursomes in the morning and fourball matches in the afternoon with eight single matches on the second day. The other members of the Irish team include Paul Cutler (Portstewart), Alan Dunbar (Rathmore), Paul Dunne (Greystones), Andrew Hogan (Newlands) and Dara Lenihan (Castle). McNamara was the winner of the 2008 Joe Carr Award (u-21 Order of Merit) and he was also the 2008 Leinster Youths Champion. He has represented Ireland at the 2007 European Boys team championship and 2007 Boys" Home Internationals.
