Setback for Meath Ladies

Meath will have to plot more difficult route to the Ladies All-Ireland IFC final after they were beaten 0-9 to 2-9 by Roscommon in the round-robin qualifier at Kinnegad this afternoon.

After beating Fermanagh by 11-24 to 2-6 last week Meath knew a win over the Connacht champions would set up a meeting with Sligo. However this defeat means they will now have to take on and beat Wexford if they are to stay in the hunt for glory.

Meath were below par throughout and shipped an early goal to fall behind. However a strong finish to the half ensured the Royals were level 0-6 to 1-3 at the break.

Roscommon pulled clear again after the resumption with a second goal, but again Meath clawed their way back into contention, 0-8 to 2-5, to set up a tense finish.

However, Meath failed to score again until injury-time as Roscommon restored their supremacy and sccored the win.
