Big turnout at launch of Meath mental health initiative

Most of Meath's GAA clubs were represented at the official launch of a Health and Wellbeing Awareness & Information initiative at Dunganny last night.
The launch was part of a drive by Meath GAA, the HSE and Meath Local Sports Partnership (MLSP)  to make available as much information as possible  about the services and resources that are available to help people who might be experiencing mental health problems or struggling to grapple with other issues such as gambling, alcohol or drug abuse.
A large board containing the list of contacts of support groups was made available to every club in the county and the vast majority of these boards were collected last night. These boards will be pinned up in clubhouses throughout the county.
Among the speakers at the launch included Jim Bolger, chairman of Leinster GAA; Mary Murphy of MLSP; Fiona Murphy representing the HSE and Peter O'Halloran, chairman of Meath GAA.  The launch was compered by Andy Fahy, the chairman of Meath GAA Health & Wellbeing Committee.
"Meath GAA are committed to this initiative and will continue to support it," said O'Halloran.
