Meath sent reeling by concession of Roscommon goals

Sent reeling by the concession of two first-half goals Meath were defeated 0-12 to 2-9 by Roscommon in the Ladies NFL Div 3 at Mullingar today.

Meath took an early 0-3 to 0-0 lead with the help of two points from Stacy Grimes and one from Niamh O'Sullivan however goals from Rebecca Finan and Jenny Higgins boosted Roscommon into the lead. At the break the Connacht side led 2-5 to 0-8.

Despite having plenty of possession in the second-half Meath were unable to find their way through the Roscommon defence for a goal that would have given them a real lift. O'Sullivan went closest to conjuring up a goal for Meath but she hit the side-netting with a shot.

Marie O'Shaughnessy fired over two fine points for the Royal County in the second-half to cap an excellent display while O'Sullivan and Niamh Gallogly also pointed but they needed more.
