Meath players warm up for the camogie against Limerick at Dunganny

Tough going for Meath in Div 1 Camogie League

The going in National Camogie League Div 1 continues to prove very tough for Meath as they lost to Limerick (0-2 to 2-10) this afternoon at Dunganny.

After a stout defensive display for the opening 30 minutes Meath conceded a sloppy goal in first-half injury time when Niamh Mulcahy's long range free took a slight deflection as the host's defence napped and ended up in the net to give the visitors a 1-4 to 0-1 interval lead.

That six-point deficit didn't look like an insurmountable hurdle as Meath turned for the second-half with the wind at their backs, but Limerick weathered the early pressure and piled on the agony in the final quarter.

Despite playing with the strong wind all Meath could muster was a single point from an Aoife Maguire free and as the game slipped away from them it was Cliona Lane who bagged a second goal to wrap up an easy win for the Treaty county.

Meath must now regroup and turn their attentions to Dublin in round three.

Limerick and Dublin played out a draw in round one a fortnight ago when Limerick rallied from eight points down, so John Davis has a huge task on his hands to lift spirits ahead of next week's game.
