Simonstown Gaels looking for a new manager

Two in-a-row Keegan Cup champions Simonstown Gaels will have to appoint a new manager for their bid for three after Colm O'Rourke called time.

O'Rourke guided Simonstown to a historic first Keegan Cup in 2016, but at last night's annual general meeting stepped down from the role of manager.

He enjoyed another good championship run with the Gaels in 2017 when the Keegan Cup was retained and a first victory was also achieved in the Leinster Club SFC against Satrlights of Wexford.

A long year for O'Rourke and the Simonstown players only ended in December when they played neighbours Wolfe Tones in the A FL Div 1 final with the
Tones finishing the season on a winning note with  a 0-14 to 0-9 victory.

The departure of O'Rourke copuld pave the way for Seamus Kenny to take on a managerial role, but the club could also opt for an outside appointment.

Simonstown will begin their 2018 campaign in the A FL Div 1 on Sunday 28th January at 11am away to Gaeil Colmcille.
