Curraha's James McEntee seeks to close down a Ballyboughal opponent during today's game.

Goals scupper Curraha's hopes

Hopes of making a big impact in this year's Leinster Club IFC evaporated for Curraha when they lost 0-15 to 3-7 to Ballyboughal in today's semi-final at Ballyboughal.

While they had plenty of possession Curraha's tendency to leak goals proved to be a major problem for them and they went tumbling out of the competition.

It was 1-4 to 0-5 at the interval with Ben Callanan netting for the Dublin side. Curraha reduced the deficit to a single point with 40 minutes played but further strikes from Gerry Seaver and Jack Ryan ensured the home team progressed to the next round.

Conor Moriarty was Curraha's top marksman with eight points, four from frees with James Entee also adding four and David Toner three. The Meath side pressed hard in the tense closing stages seeking an equaliser but there was no reprieve for them.
