Birthday success for Ollie Murphy

Ollie Murphy is a legend in Meath football and he marked his 42nd birthday with a championship success with his club Carnaross at Páirc Tailteann yesterday.

He was joined in the post-match celebrations by his daughter after a memorable Junior D success.

Ollie received a tremendous ovation when Carnaross won the Liam Creavin Cup after defeating Longwood by 0-13 to 0-6 in the decider.

He used all his guile and experience to pick off four points over the hour before he was substituted near the end.

As he left the pitch the former county star received a standing ovation from the spectators.

His passion and enthusiasm for the game is still evident 18 years after he illuminated the inter-county scene and helped Meath to an All Ireland success.
