Ladies football final fixed for Simonstown venue

Oldcastle and Boardsmill set for classic finals in the 2017 Ladies Senior Football Championship on Sunday 7th October at Simonstown.

The first semi-final was an all out battle by last year’s Intermediate champions Royal Gaels and 2015 losing finalists Oldcastle.

The game was end to end from start to finish.

Indeed after the hour both sides were level and the game went into extra-time.

Oldcastle immerged victorious by just the three points to ensure their place in only their second senior final.

In a replay of the 2016 final Boardsmill were too strong for an out of sorts St. Ultan's on the night.

The ‘Mill’ got off to the perfect start and ran up a 2-7 to 0-3 scoreline by the end of the first-half.

It was just too much for St Ultan's to claw back and Boardsmill would run out 2-13 to 0-7 winners on the day.

Boardsmill will be hoping its ‘’third time lucky’’ on the day.

Depending on which teams show up on the day we could be in for a major battle.

Both sides have strong ‘’point scoring’’ players with the ever present goal poachers also.

Bridgetta Lynch for Oldcastle and Caroline Quinn for the Boardsmill side are renowned for their goal scoring prowess.

Both clubs will be looking to put a new name on the senior championship cup.
