Meath Hill book JFC final date with Moylagh

Meath Hill booked a JFC final ticket against Moylagh at Pairc Tailteann today with a 1-10 to 1-6 victory against Carnaross.

Meath Hill opened the scoring with a 10th minute James Mooney point and Tommy Rooney increased the advantage at the end of the first-quarter.

Carnaross laboured for scores until Cian O'Reilly's 18th minute effort from play and the first pointed free arrived in the 21st minute and drew the sides level from Frank O'Reilly, a feat matched at the other end by Chris Yorke which gave Meath Hill the lead again.

That lead was short-lived and a fluent Carnaross move saw John L McGee finish to the net in the 24th minute.

Carnaross then conceded a somewhat needless free that earned Tomás Plunkett a yellow card.

From Chris Yorke's well-struck free a goalmouth scramble ensued and Keith Ginnity poked to the net. Reeling from that, Carnaross gifted possession to Meath Hill's Pearse McGrath from the kick-out and he duly split the posts for a 1-4 to 1-2 interval lead.

Meath Hill did enough in the second-half to get the result despite enduring a 15-minute blank on the scorebaord from the 15th - 30th minute.

The Meath Hill cause was helped by some deplorable finishing from Carnaross who struggled for accuracy and managed ameagre tally of four second-half points with a brace each from Frank O'Reilly and Dermot McGee.

Goal chances were squandered, most notably by Charles Brogan, but at the other end Meath Hill were unlucky not to find the net from a Michael McCabe effort.

Third-quarter points from Jason Yorke (two), McCabe, Ian Malone and Tommy Rooney eased Meath Hill into a 1-9 to 1-5 lead and when McGee's '45' sailed over with 10 minutes remaining it left just a goal in it.

Carnaross were unable to make any further inroads into the Metah Hill lead and Chris Yorke drilled an added time free over the black sport to seal the final date with north Meath rivals Moylagh.
