Dunboyne win as two see red

Dunboyne turned on the style to defeat Na Fianna 2-23 to 1-15 in the SFC at Dunshaughlin this evening and effectively booked a place in the knock-out phase.

Both teams finished this full-blooded but not dirty game a man short. Na Fianna's Christy Cosgrave was the first to see red on 41 minutes and Gary Timoney suffered the same fate in the closing stages. Both players picked up second yellow cards.

With Robbie McCarthy in outstanding form Dunboyne were always a threat in attack. McCarthy ended up with 10 points, seven from play. Niall Jones also found the net for Dunboyne on 47 minutes while Michael Dunne converted a penalty after he was brought down.

Na Fianna trailed by only two points, 0-8 to 0-10 at the break and while Dean Barrett superly netted for them from a penalty they struggled to deal with Dunboyne's attack. Barry Slevin, Conor Downey and Dan Queeney were others to feature prominently for Na Fianna when it came to getting scores.
