Late Quigley goals comes at a price

Two sensational late Sean Quigley goals sealed a dramatic 3-13 to 1-16 SHC victory for Dunboyne tonight against Kilmessan at Ratoath.

However, Kilmessan will be wondering how they lost this game as they were six points ahead (1-14 to 1-8) and cruising with nine minutes remaining.

Even when they lost the lead to Quigley's first goal in the 60th minute, they went down the field and got back on level terms (1-16 to 2-13) form a Steven Clynch '65' and then gifted Dunboyne another goal chance.

Quigley was on the end of that one as well, although he paid a hefty price as he sustained a severe shoulder injury in the process of finishing to the net while Kilmessan goalie Sean Power collected a red card.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory would be one apt description for Kilmessan who were in complete control for all of 55 minutes after leading by 1-9 to 1-5 at the interval witgh Kevin Keena finding the net in the seventh minute.

Dunboyne salvaged a Neil Hackett goal on the stroke of half-time although Kilmessan may feel that should have been awarded a free before that particular move developed?

Kilmessan were excellent until the 55th minute with experience and class evident as Clynch, Charlie and Joey Keena and Darren Reilly called the shots, but they failed to see it out and ultimately paid the price against a gutsy Dunboyne side that had good displays from Quigley, Fergal O'Neill, Niall Watters and Sean McGrath.
