Meath to face Sligo in All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers

Meath will bid to win their first All-Ireland SFC qualifier since 2011 when they face Sligo in Pairc Tailteann in round 2A on either Saturday 1st or Sunday 2nd July.

Andy McEntee's men were dumped out of the Leinster SFC at the penultimate hurdle by Kildare in Tullamore on Saturday, 0-13 to 2-16, and now must plot their way through the back door for the seventh year in succession.
Meath were the first team drawn out of the bowl in this mornings draw live on RTE's Morning Ireland and will face Sligo who defeated New York in the opening round of the Connacht SFC before losing 0-11 to 2-14 to Mayo in the provincial quarter-final.
In the opening round of qualifiers Sligo registrered 22 points in response to Antrim's 3-7 and that type of scoring threat will ensure a difficult test for Meath.
Meath haven't won a game in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers since the 0-11 to 0-10 win over Galway under Seamus McEnaney in 2011.
Since then Meath have lost to Kildare, Laois, Armagh, Derry and twice to Tyrone, so they will hope for better fortunes against Connacht opposition.
