Meath look to exact revenge

Meath will be looking to make a bright start to their Leinster JFC campaign when they take on Kildare at Pairc Tailteann this evening, 7.30 and exact revenge for a defeat to the same opposition last year.

The team is backboned a number of palyers who have already been part of the Meath senior squad this year including Paddy Kennelly, Adam Flanagan, David Toner, Declan Smyth, Kevin Ross and Ben Brennan.

Added to that list is a number of younger performers who have graduated from the u-21 team including Moynalty's Johnny Lynch, talented young Moylagh player Sean Reilly and Oldcastle's Jason Scully.

This is an opportunity for Conor O'Donoghue's team to make up for a disappointing defeat to the Lilywhites last year at Newbridge (1-12 to 2-17) in the same competition. A former coach of Dunboyne, O'Donoghue has taken charge this year of the Royal County.

The Kildare team was tean made up of u-23 players in 2016 and they are sure to provide stiff opposition for the Royals tonight also.

Among the Meath players who lined out against Kildare last year were Jamie Reilly, Cathal McConnell, Ben Brennan, Michael Flood, Kevin Traynor, Kevin Ross and Daire Rowe.
