Final ticket for Meath Hill

Meath Hill set up a possible Tailteann Cup final date with neighbours Drumconrath when they delivered a dynamic winning performance in the semi-final today against Dunsany when they won by 1-14 to 1-8.

The game was played in Castletown after that venue became available due to the non-playing of the other semi-final between Drumconrath and Slane (see separate story).

Originally, Meath Hill and Dunsany was scheduled for Rathkenny, but that pitch was unplayable and the game was moved to Nobber late last night, but that was unplayable this morning and the vacant slot at Castletown came to the rescue.

It was notabale that a number of supporters missed the start of the game as they went to Nobber and then headed back to Castletown.

Dunsany played their best football in the opening half with Shane Brennan, who played for Meath in the NHL Div 2B against Roscommon last night.

However, Dunsany trailed by 1-3 to 0-8 at the interval and were completely out-played after the break as a spirited Meath Hill took control and could even afford a Pierce McGrath pointed a penalty on the hour mark such was the ease of their victorty.

New Meath Hill manager Davy Cahill was delighted with the performace and the victory - 'We have a small panel, but we have a lot of good footballers' he told the Meath Chronicle.
