Disappointment for Scoil Mhuire in final

There was disappointment for Scoil Mhuire Trim this afternoon in Trim GAA as their bid for All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior D Camogie glory ended in a 1-8 to 3-10  defeat at the hands of John the Baptist CS from Hospital in Limerick.

It had all looked promising for the Trim school in the opening quarter as they raced into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead after 10 minutes with Caroline O’Loughlin-Quinn scoring the goal and Leah Dennehy and Leah Devine also causing plenty of problems.

However, once John the Baptist settled they started to take control and with the benefit of a couple of fortunate goals and a few moments of outstanding brilliance they rallied to lead by 3-5 to 1-7 at the break.

Inside a minute of the restart the Limerick side missed a penalty and a close range free as Trim struggled to get out of their half and the hosts didn’t manage to score again until the 62nd minute and by that stage John the Baptist were already well clear.

The schools will meet again in the All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Junior D decider in Limerick next Tuesday and with many of the same players involved again for Scoil Mhuire the Trim school will hope to reverse this result.
