Sheridan to start in goals

Joe Sheridan will make his first appearance for Meath since the loss to Tyrone in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers in 2013 when he starts in goals for Saturday night's O'Byrne Cup third round clash with Laois in Stradbally, 7pm.
With Paddy O'Rourke recovering from injury and new Meath manager Andy McEntee short of experience in his very young panel Sheridan has been drafted in to provide more cover for the goalkeeping position.
Jack Hanningan and Robbie Burlingham rotated the number one jersey for the first two games against Wicklow and DIT, but Saturday night will give Sheridan his opportunity to stake a claim for a place on the panel ahead of the start of the league.
McEntee has used 36 players in his two O'Byrne Cup games and Sheridan will be the 37th as the manager opts for a mixture of the two teams that featured in the opening couple of games.
Donal Keogan, Mickey Burke, Conor Downey, Sean Curran, Bryan Menton, Cian O'Brien, Cillian O'Sullivan, new captain Graham Reilly, Paddy Kellenny, Bryan McMahon and Kevin Ross all return having sat out the DIT game, while David McQuillan, Brian Power and Donal Lenihan retain their places from the win over the Dublin students.
Conor McGill (DIT), Eamon Wallace (DCU), Joey Wallace (Maynooth University) and Thomas McGovern (DIT) are all cup tied, while the u-21 players are released to play in the Hastings Cup. James Toher will play for the Meath hurlers in their Walsh Cup clash with Kildare in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday, 2pm.
