Brennan's point seals Leinster title

Ben Brennan's point three minutes into added time earned a 0-13 to 1-9 Leinster Club IFC final victory for St Colmcille's this evening at Páirc Táilteann at the expense of a gallant Rosemount side that showed great character to get back to level terms (0-12 to 1-9) on the hour mark.

The winning point was a superb score from the St Colmcille's captain after an electrifying burst from Graham Reilly made the opening.

Reilly was grabbed by the ankle and that earned a black card for Rosemount's Declan Mullen who had put Rosemount into a fourth minute lead as the Westmeath champion made a great start.

However, the Westmeath men wasted a couple of good chances subsequently as Ben Brennan, James Conlon and Graham Reilly found their range with well-taken points.

David Dude McCormack and Ciaran Kelly traded fress before the end of the first-quarter as St Colmcille's forged into a 0-4 to 0-2 lead.

Ben Brennan's free extended St Colmcille's advantage before Rosemount enjoyed a mini-flourish that brought parity with points from David Dude McCormack (free), Andy McCormack and Boidu Sayeh by the 25th minute.

St Colmcille's, almost effortlesly, moved up a gear and finished the half on the front foot with points from Conlon, a superb angled effort by Brennan, and Reilly for a 0-8 to 0-5 interval advantage.

Andy McCormack's point had Rosemount on the scoreboard in the second-half and when David Dude McCormack rifled to the net eight minutes into that second-half if set the Westmeath men up nicely.

Points from Reilly and Brennan gave St Colmcille's a 0-10 to 1-6 margin, but Sayeh tied the scores again with eight minutes remaining and then David DD McCormack gave Rosemount the lead with a superb effort from 50 metres.

Reilly and Conlon countered to revive St Colmcille's but Rsemount levelled through Sayeh in added time before that late surge from Reilly and pointed free from Ben Brennan sealed the victory.
