Bective bow out

Meath JFC champions Bective bowed out of the race for Leinster Club honours as they were beaten 0-8 to 0-9 at the quarter-final hurdle by Laois representatives Rosenallis in Simonstown this afternoon.

A nervous start left Jody Devine's side playing catch up throughout as the Laois side raced into an early lead and never relinquished the advantage despite being under intense pressure for the majority of the second period.

Bective were slow to get going and fell 0-0 to 0-2 behind early on and were fortunate to be just 0-3 to 0-6 adrift at the break as Rosenallis missed a plethora of chances and were denied goals by a brilliant save from Shane Breslin and a fine block by Ben Malone.

after the resumption Bective got to within a point of their visitors, but in the closing stages Rosenallis pulled clear again and led by three in injury-time before Bective's late flourish fell short.
