GAA delegates told that Curraha player Danny Battersby improving

There was good news tonight at the Meath GAA Co Board meeting when delegates were informed that the Curraha player Danny Battersby who collapsed yesterday during an IFC game between his club and Drumbaragh was recovering in hospital tonight.

The incident took place yesterday at KIlberry at the home of Wolfe Tones, but assistance was provided quickly and it was crucial.

Wolfe Tones delegate Philip O'Brien referred to the unfortunate incident that took place at the Kilberry ground on Sunday at tonight's Co Board meeting in Seneschalstown.

'A young player collapsed and we were lucky to have a defibrillator that was ready to use and that there was someone able to provide assistance for about 45 minutes,' he said.

'If the defibrillator wasn't there yesterday I dread to think what might have happened,' he added.

Meath Co Board chairman Conor Tormey wished the player well.

'On behalf of the Co Board I wish Danny Battersby well, our Health and Wellbeing Committee have been in touch with the club and offered our support,' he commented.

Delegates at the meeting sent good wishes to the player and his family and the members of the Curraha club.
