Hurling team unchanged for Christy Ring Cup re-fixture

Meath hurling manager Martin Ennis and his selectors John Andrews and Mick McCullagh have finalised the team for tomorrow’s (Saturday) Christy Ring Cup final replay/re-fixture at Croke Park, 5pm and have named the same 15 that started the first encounter at headquarters three weeks ago.

The Meath players and selectors met the supporters last night at a well-attended fanzone-type of event at Dunganny and it is anticipated that there will be substantial support for the team at Croke Park tomorrow evening.

The hurling will be the second game with the camogie team starting their bid for All-Ireland intermediate honours in a group game against Down at 3pm in the curtainraiser.

There will be deep sadness amongst the camogie players, officials and supporters following the passing on Thursday of Teresa Davis, wife of camogie manager John Davis who was also a former manager of the hurling team and guided them to an All-Ireland SHC B title in 1993 in which both Martin Ennis and John Andrews played.

Tomorrow at Croke Park will be an emotional day for players, officials and supporters of both teams.

The Meath team for the Christy Cup final replay/re-fixture is - Shane McGann; Sean Geraghty, David Donogue, Ronan Sherlock; Shane Brennan, Damien Healy, Keith Keoghan; Sean Heavey, Stephen Morris; James Toher, Joey Keena, Adam Gannon; Gavin McGowan, Neil Heffernan, Steven Clynch.

LIVE VIDEO via Facebook FROM CROKE PARK - Update

The Meath Chronicle reports on the Christy Ring Cup from both the Meath semi-final against Kildare and final against Antrim featured a live video via our Facebook page before and after each game with interviews and reactions.

However, we will not be in a position to repeat that for tomorrow’s game at Croke Park.

The GAA has advised the Meath Chronicle that it would be in breach of GAA guidelines in relation to their television / broadcasting agreements and that Meath Chronicle reporters are only accredited for inter-county games as print journalists.

We will be able to do reports via our Facebook page from outside the stadium.
