Trevor Giles to host Legends Tour in Croke Park

Considered one of the greatest forwards of his generation former Meath star Trevor Giles will play host to the first of this summer’s Bord Gáis Energy Legends Tour at Croke Park on Saturday 25th June at 2pm.

The Skryne clubman will look back on a glittering career with the Royal County and give an insight into what it was like to play under one of the game’s great managers, Seán Boylan.

Trevor represented Meath for eleven years from 1994 winning practically every honour in the game.  His biggest successes came in 1996 and 1999 when he won All-Ireland titles following in the footsteps of his cousin Mick Lyons in winning Sam Maguire.  The triumph in 1999 was all the sweeter as it followed a long recovery from a ruptured cruciate ligament in 1998.

Trevor won three Leinster championship medals in his playing career and a national league title in 1994.  The three-time All Star was also rewarded with the Footballer of the Year award in his All-Ireland winning years while in 1999 he also claimed the Texaco Footballer of the Year Award.

Before moving to the senior ranks Trevor also won All-Ireland titles at U21 and minor level in 1993 and 1992 respectively.  He represented Ireland in the International Rules Series in 1999, 2000 and 2002, captaining the side in 2000.  With his club he won four Meath senior football championships.

Speaking ahead of the Bord Gáis Energy Legends Tour Trevor Giles said: “It will be great to go back to Croke Park and have a chance to reflect on some of my greatest memories.  When you are playing you don’t tend to have time to think about the successes all that much but now as I look back I realise how lucky I was to be part of such great teams.  I am really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting some of the fans at Croke Park on June 25th.”
