Hurlers finish Walsh Cup group with a victory

Meath hurlers finished their Walsh Cup campaign today at Dunganny with a third round 2-16 to 1-12 victory against DJ Carey-managed IT Carlow.

Meath were ahead by 0-9 to 0-6 at the interval with four points from Jack Regan, Steven Clynch (two) and one each by James Toher, Joey Keena and Keith Keoghan.

Meath lost Sean Heavey to an early second-half red card soon after goals from Clynch and Keoghan boosted them to a 2-9 to 0-6 advantage.

Longwood's Damien Healy pulled back a goal for IT Carlow, but with Tom Clarke adding four second-half points along with Regan (two) and one from Clynch, Meath prevailed.
