Omahonys boost shc chances

Navan O’Mahonys moved a step closer to a spot in the last six, while nudging Rathmolyon a little closer to the trap door with a 0-19 to 2-9 SHC victory at Trim this afternoon.
Rathmolyon started well and led by 1-4 to 0-3 after 15 minutes courtesy of Anthony Cunningham’s goal, but O’Mahonys hit six of the next seven points to move two clear before a 31 minute delay following an injury to Paddy Skehan put a halt to their gallop.
John Foley did add a 10th point of the half for O’Mahonys as they took a 0-10 to 1-4 interval lead.
After the break Mike Cole’s superb goal gave Rathmolyon real hope andf with nine minutes remaining there was still only a point between the sides with O’Mahonys lead 0-15 to 2-8.
However the closing stages belonged to the Navan men as they hit four of the last five points to seal the win.
