Royals edge out rebels in camogie showdown

Aoife Minogue registered a precious point from a late free to earn Meath a 1-9 to 2-5 victory over Cork in the National Camoge League Div 2 in the sunshine at Ratoath today.

The game looked like it would end in a draw until Minogue fired over from 30 metres out.

Questions would be asked if Meath lost this game as they dominated in terms of possession for lenghty spells but couldn't put daylight between themselves and Cork.

With Jane Dolan firing over three points Meath led for most of the opening half but Cork hit back with goals from Orla Cronin and Lauren Callanan to lead 2-2 to 0-5 at the interval.

The sides remained close throughout the second-half with Megan Thynne netting for Meath.

In the closing stages Minogue popped up with her point from a free to earn John Davis' side the narrowest of wins.

Meath had already missed out on a chance of promotion with the defeat to Waterford the previous week.
