Reilly inspires meath to victory

Graham Reilly illuminated Páirc Táilteann tonight with a sparkling display that inspired Meath to an easy 4-10 to 0-11 NFL Div 2 victory over Westmeath.

The St Colmcille's man finished with a personal tally of 1-5, including a sumptious lob over Gary Connaughton for Meath's fourth goal, as he tormented Westmeath throughout.

Reilly was forced off after 15 minutes with a blood injury and by that stage he already had one point to his name, but when he returned wearing the number 32 jersey he was like a man possessed as he kicked points for fun in the second-half and inspired those around him.

It was an excellent display from an impressive Meath side. Playing against a strong breeze in the opening period Meath weathered the Westmeath storm and were within two points at the break, 1-3 to 0-8, with Stephen Bray bagging the goal.

Boosted by the wind at their backs Meath hit 2-2 in the opening seven minutes of the second period with Padraic Harnan and Mickey Newman getting the goals.

Westmeath lost the will to compete for the remainder and managed just three pointed frees in the second-half as Reilly completed the goal rush with his magnificent lob.
