Hurlers win and camogie team lose

Meath hurlers got their bid for promotion back on track today with a hard-earned NHL Div 2B victory against hosts Mayo, but there was no joy for the Meath camogie team as they lost out to Kikenny in the opening round of the National Camogie League Div 2 at Thomastown by 0-4 to 1-6 as Kilkenny snatched a late goal.

Meath hurlers found the winning formula in Ballyhaunis as they recorded a 3-8 to 0-9 victory.

Meath were ahead by 3-6 to 0-4 at the interval with all the goals coming before the break.

The game was originally fixed for McHale Park in Castlebar, but was changed this morning to the Connacht Centre of Excellence at Ballyahunis.

Kildare remian set for a quick return to Div 2A after they recorded a 2-15 to 1-12 victory over Down while Meath’s next opposition, Donegal, made it two defeats out of two when they were beaten by Armagh who won by 1-18 to 2-10.
