Disappointed Ballinlough player Lorcan Maguire.

Ballinlough bow out in leinster decider

There was disappointment for Ballinlough when they were defeated 1-4 to 0-10 by Dundalk side Sean O'Mahonys in the Leinster Club IFC final at Drogheda this afternoon.

The Meath side took some time to get into the game and trailed 0-0 to 0-4 after 16 minutes.

Tom Shine's side eventually got a foothold they when they scored from a penalty with Peadar Byrne directing the ball forcefully to the net from the spot kick.

They tagged on three further points from Byrne, Colm Mallen and Ken Rothwell however O'Mahonys also added to their account and the sides were level 1-3 to 0-6 at the interval.

Early in the second-half O'Mahonys' midfielder Conor Crawley was red carded but instead of pushing on from there Ballinlough struggled to find any decent form and could only add one more point.

O'Mahonys proved the stronger, more cohesive unit in the closing stages and they deservedly powered their way to victory.
