Dunboyne survive late scare

Last year's beaten finalists Dunboyne received a fright before seeing off the brave challenge of St Colmcille’s by 2-6 to 1-6 in the MFC final at Pairc Tailteann today.

Dunboyne were heading for a hard-earned victory when leading by 1-5 to 0-6 with seven minutes remaining in what, up until then, had been a disappointing affair.

However, the game burst to life in the closing stages and eventually finished in a welter of excitement after the Seasiders hit the front following a 56th minute goal.

That shocked Dunboyne into an immediate response and within 60 seconds they were back in front with Conor Keeley’s half-blocked effort going into the net.

It was a good weekend for Dunboyne who won a B FL title on Friday night.
