Camogie dancers putting on the glitz

Meath Camogie Board will host a major 'Strictly Come Dancing’ fundraiser on Friday 14th November at Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim from 7.30. The important fundraiser will mark the culmination of work over the past number of months by many enthusiasts and at this stage, it is set to be a fantastic evening.

Contestants, who will be representing their clubs, will battle it out on the dance floor for the top prize of €1,000 for the winning club. All funds raised will go towards the development of under-age and adult county camogie teams.

The planning began last August when a sub-committee was set up to undertake this challenge.

Dunderry’s Tracy Fitzsimons was the driving force with assistance from Claire Reynolds and Mary Reilly from Na Fianna, Kay Troy from Blackhall Gaels, Niamh Carroll from Kilmessan and Maire Keogh from Kildalkey.

The funds will be vital as Meath had four camogie teams entered in eight inter-county competitions and they travelled as far as Cork, Kerry and Waterford along with s number of venues closer to home.

The Camogie Board also has three development squads who travelled to various blitzes in Leinster and beyond.

Meath Camogie decided to hold this event to raise much-needed funds to meet with the costs associated with these teams.

Choreographer Aishling Toher has expertly coached and encouraged the dancers who have been training diligently since the outset.

It is understood that they have now achieved perfection and are eagerly wating for the opportunity to impress on the big night.

Supportes from clubs are urged to get to Knightsbrook on 14th November in their club colours to provide support, vocal and financial, for the event
