Dublin looking good again

Dublin handed out a harsh lesson to Meath today at Croke Park and while the Royal County supporters would have departed the stadium in a dejected mood, they also must have been hugely impressed by the performance of the hosts.

Meath and Dublin have always produced memorable games, on this occasion it was memorable for all the wrong reasons for the Meath management, players and supporters.

But Dublin also deserve credit for their performance - also memorable - and one that will, no doubt, stand them in good stead ahead of their All-Ireland SFC quarter-final tie next month against an All-Ireland SFC qualifier Rround 4B winner. (See Joanne Cantwell interview with Kevin McManamon taken from RTE's coverage of the game).

No one will be relishing the prospects of facing Dublin although in his post-match analysis, RTE's Pat Spillane described the Leinster Championship as 'a poor standard of football.'

Meath will now have to focus on the qualifiers with a game scheduled for weekending 2nd August.
