Alleged biting incident reported by Meath Co Board

It has emerged, allegedly, following this afternoon's Leinster SFC final between Meath and Dublin that a Meath player was the victim of a biting incident that, allegedly, took place in the second-half.

It is understood that the player is Longwood's Mickey Burke who was introduced as a substitute at half-time when he replaced Damien Carroll.

It is understood also that Meath Co Board may consider making an official report to the GAA about the matter.

The incident was mentioned briefly in the post-match media interviews and it is also understood that Mickey Burke was seen leaving Croke Park with a bandage on his finger.

Separately, and unrelated, Burke was one of a number of players who was cautioned (yellow card) in the second-half of the game following a general bout of pushing and shoving in the Meath square. (See video of those particular exchanges taken from RTE's coverage of the game).
