Newman back in as McDonagh loses out

Mickey Newman will return to the Meath team in the only change to the side for Sunday’s Leinster SFC final clash with Dublin in Croke Park, 2.0.

Newman missed the provincial semi-final win over Kildare after picking up a hamstring injury in the quarter-final victory over Carlow, during which he scored three goals.

Newman’s return means Dalton McDonagh will drop to the bench despite bagging a goal against Kildare.
Captain Kevin Reilly is deemed fit to start after shaking off a knee injury and will take up his regular full-back position. While Bryan McMahon, who was forced off after just seven minutes with concussion against Kildare, retains his place at centre-forward.

Eoghan Harrington, who replaced Caolan Young prior to the start of the semi-final, retains his place, while Mickey Burke continues to miss out with Bryan Menton listed to start at corner-back.

Meath - Paddy O’Rourke; Eoghan Harrington, Kevin Reilly, Bryan Menton; Padraic Harnan, Donal Keogan, Donnacha Tobin; Brian Meade, Shane O’Rourke; Damien Carroll, Bryan McMahon, Andrew Tormey; Graham Reilly, Stephen Bray, Michael Newman.
