O'Dowd loving being Meath manager

Developing game plans and immersing yourself into the life of an inter-county manager, selector and players takes an enormous toll on personal time, but Mick O’Dowd views it as a labour of love.
Not once has he looked on his role as a job and the day he starts to feel the passion wane is the day he’ll walk away.
“I love the job and I regularly inform the players of how lucky we all are to be inside the Meath dressing room representing the county on huge days,” said O’Dowd.
“For me and for a player it will be for a finite period of time so you need to enjoy every minute of it and when you are doing that then you are in the best position to express yourself and fulfil your potential.
“It possibly has impacted a little bit on my own personal life, but I definitely don’t see it as a chore at any stage. The moment I do it will be a warning to move on, but I love all aspects of the job.
“All the things that aren’t the best part of the job are just challenges, they are like the challenges the players face during a game, you need to deal with it and ride it out,” concluded the Meath boss.
