Lotto smiles for Brigid
Killyon stalwart Brigid Carney had plenty of reasons to smile this weekend as was evident at Trim today as she watched the senior hurling team chalk up another victory in their bid for Jubilee Cup glory.
Not only did Killyon win the game, after a hard-fought encounter against Blackhall Gaels, but Brigid was able to reflect on a significant boost to her bank balance this week also - hence the smiles!
The boost came in the form of a 'win with her lucky numbers' in the Killyon fundraising weekly Lotto.
Brigid scooped the jackpot, the first time in over a year that it has been won, when her three numbers came up in the weekly draw - it was worth a nice tidy €5,700 - and that explains her smiles in the photo as she watched the game with her husband JJ and Camillus Burke.
It is understood that Brigid has promised to buy JJ a new electric razor, but he is not too keen on that as he has received lots of compliments about his ZZ Top impression so he might be able to persuade his wife that a new baseball cap would be better when she goes to Kildare Village next week.
Brigid shared the lucky numbers - 1, 10, 19 - there's a formula there (nine between each number). 'I'm just glad I wasn't there when the numbers were drawn, you know what people might be saying,' Brigid told the Meath Chronicle.
