Defending champions beaten again

Dunboyne sent Kilmessan crashing to a second successive SHC defeat in this third round tussle at Pairc Tailteann this evening where Johnny Gorry's men recorded a 3-10 to 2-10 victory.

The first-half was a fairly tame affair with Dunboyne shading the exchanges to lead by 1-5 to 0-6 at the interval with Niall Smyth finding the Kilmessan net in only 17 seconds.

Kilmessan raised the tempo in the second-half despite conceding another goal with Smyth finishing again six minutes into the second-half.

Kilmessan goals at the three-quarter stage from Sean Doyle and Steven Clynch gave KIlmessan a 2-9 to 2-7 advantage, but on this occasion Dunboyne stood strong and found a third goal through Sean Quigley and then held on for victory.
