Meath can take confidence from Kildare win - Gavin

Jim Gavin says that Meath should take a lot of confidence from their victory over Kildare in the Leinster SFC semi-final yesterday.

He said that Meath play “an attractive brand of football similar to Dublin’s” and that his side will need to be at their best to win the eagerly-awaited contest.

He is expecting another highly competitive encounter against a Meath side he feels has improved from last year.

“It was a very competitive game last year and I think we can expect the same closeness, the same battle again.”

Gavin added that he is very happy with the development young players such as Cormac Costello who played a significant role in Dublin’s 2-25 to 1-12 win over Wexford.

“We’re very pleased with all the players who have come up from the u-21 ranks, they are very diligent, they are very committed to the county. There’s a lot of competition in the squad and they are trying their best.”
