Caolan Young will make his championship debut on Sunday.

Young handed his championship bow

Meath boss Mick O'Dowd has handed first championship starts to three players for Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final against Carlow at Dr Cullen Park, 3.30.

Caolan Young will make his first appearance in a championship game for the Royals when he lines out at corner-back, while Andy Tormey and Bryan McMahon will both start a Leinster SFC game for the first time.

Tormey featured three times from the bench in Championship 2013, while McMahon made a brief appearance for the first time against Wexford.

With cruciate knee injuries ruling out Eamon Wallace and Conor Gillespie, McMahon gets the nod at centre-forward, while Brian Meade regains his place at midfield after missing the entire NFL Div 2 campaign with a cruciate injury.

Meade returns to partner Shane O'Rourke in the middle. O'Rourke's last championship appearance was in the All-Ireland SFC qualifier loss to Kildare in 2011.

With Bryan Menton and Eoghan Harrington also ruled out because of thumb and jaw injuries respectively, Donal Keogan moves to centre-back where he will be flanked by Damien Carroll and Padraic Harnan.

Donncha Tobin returns to the starting 15 after missing the entire 2013 campaign because of his travels to Australia.
