Wolfe Tones make it three from three

Wolfe Tones continued their encouraging start to their SFC campaign when they defeated Duleek-Bellewstown 0-12 to 0-11 at Rathkenny this evening to make three wins from three games played.

Gordon Ward's side made a slow start to this game and were three points down before Cian Ward pointed from a '65' to put his team on the scoreboard.

The sides were level 0-6 apiece at the interval with Cian Ward ending up his team's top scorer with four points, two from frees.

Both sides put a big emphasis on defence and there were few goal-scoring opportunities.

Duleek/Bellewstown had a good first-half but they struggled to impose themselves in midfield after the break. John Flood and Conall McGinley contributed three points apiece to their cause.

Tones shipped a blow when Ciaran McLoughlin was shown a black card early in the second-half but they led by two with time almost up. However all Duleek-Bellewstown could muster in four minutes of added time was a point from Stephen Nolan.
