Pairc Tailteann security to be reviewed as thieves strike

Gardai are investigating the theft of a number of items, including wallets and mobile phones, that were stolen from cars belonging to Meath footballers and management at Pairc Tailteann last night.

The items were taken while the players were in training as part of their preparations for Saturday night’s crucial NFL Div 2 encounter against Down at Pairc Tailteann.

A spokesman for Meath Co Board said that the security measures in place at Pairc Tailteann will now be reviewed.

'Close circuit cameras were in operation at Pairc Tailteann but we will now review the security situation at the ground as player welfare is of a very high priority,' he said.

Thieves also struck at Simonstown Gaels last night while their club players were training for the start of the forthcoming SFC.

Meath Co Board and the Gardai have warned clubs and players to do all they can to safeguard their goods while they leave their cars unattended for games and training sessions.
