Hurlers win at Trim against Mayo

Meath produced an improved second-half performance that saw them over-turn a 0-3 to 0-5 interval deficit in the NHL Div 2B today at Trim as they won comfortably by 0-12 to 0-7 to make amends for the setback in Arkklow last weekend.

Wind-assisted Mayo looked good in the opening half with four Kenny Feeney points and one from play by Cathal Freeman.
Meath worked hard against the elements and had three James Toher pointed frees to their credit at the interval.

Two second-half pointed Feeney frees was all Mayo could muster as Meath took control and reeled off the scores for a 0-8 to 0-5 lead by the three-quarter stage with Toher (three), Peter Durnin and Willie McGrath hitting the target.

Further points from Toher, Shane Whitty, Derek Doran and substitute Tom McGrath completed the tally.
