In a classic example of a game of of two halves Meath defeated Cavan 1-10 to 0-5 in the Ladies NFL Div 2 encounter at Ashbourne this afternoon.

Playing with the icy wind in the opening half Meath gave themselves the platform to go on and claim victory.

They led 1-8 to 0-0 at the interval with the goal scored by the outstanding Emma Troy after 11 minutes.

Sinead Coyle, Katie O'Brien and Laura Dempsey also contributed two points apiece to the winner's tally over the hour.

Cavan controlled matters for a large part of the second-half but they wasted good possession while tenacious defending by the Meath backs also restricted their opportunities.

Sinead Greene and Bronagh Sheridan slotted over two points apiece for Cavan who never looked like catching their hosts.
