Tommy Dowd in his playing days with Meath

Dowd expected to join Meath set-up

Tommy Dowd is expected to join the Meath minor football set-up to assist new manager Eoin Carroll.

Dowd's name will be put forward for ratification at tomorrow night's Co Board meeting and it is expected club delegates will give the green light to the appointment.

A winner of four All-Star awards Dowd - who also captained the Royal County to All-Ireland success in 1996 - was previously involved as a senior selector during Colm Coyle's term as Meath manager.

A former player with Dunderry and Wolfe Tones, Dowd will bring a huge wealth of experience to the Meath set up.
