Trim open with a win and score 1-11

The race for the 2013 Jubilee Cup got underway last night at Longwood where Trim took the spoils by 1-11 to 0-11 against new boys Rathmolyon in a tight game.

Rathmolyon were playing their first game back in the SHC after last year's superb victory in the IHC decider and they then enjoyed a fine run in the Leinster Club JHC where they reached the final.

Last night they pushed Trim all the way and were ahead at the interval by 0-8 to 0-6, but they were unable to sustain that momentum and were overhauled.

Crucial to Trim's victory was Damien McGee's second-half goal which gave manager John Andrews something to smile about as his side made a winning start.

Next up for Trim is a tussle with Drumree while Rathmolyon will face Navan O'Mahonys in the second round.
