'Bad Press' for Meath football in 2012

Out-going Co Board secretary Cyril Creavin has highlighted the "bad press" Meath football received in 2012 particularly when a heave was made to remove Seamus McEnaney as senior county manager. The Dunshaughlin clubman has highlighted the issue in what will be his final secretary's report to the Meath GAA convention before he steps down. "The subsequent fallout of this led to much acrimony within the county. Again Meath seemed to be at the centre of 'bad press' with a failed attempt to dislodge team manager Seamus McEnaney and his backroom team," he pointed out. The Dunshaughlin clubman also praised the determination of McEnaney to stand his ground during that episode despite attempts to remove him. "Not withstanding this heave against the manager, credit has to be given to Seamus McEnaney for standing his ground and following a slow start to the championship had a memorable win over a fancied Kildare team to put Meath in contention in a Leinster final," he added. Creavin addedt "the darker side of the year" was the disappointing form of the Meath team who were relegated from the NFL Div 3.
