Narrow Meath victory

Meath opened their campaign in the Leinster VEC inter-county SFC at Dunganny this afternoon with a narrow win against Wicklow. Meath won by a point, 1-10 to 2-6 in a competitive game. Nathan O'Neill got the all-important score close to full-time and that sends the Royal County into next week's game in a confident mood. Meath will play in a quarter-final next week against the winner of the Dublin v Louth game. Meath will be away for that fixture. If they lose they will be out again in a qualifier on Saturday 15th December. If they win they will play in the semi-final on 12th January. Today, Meath trailed at half-time by a point 1-4 to 2-2, but did enough to second-half to merit victory. Unlike previous years, there will be no All-Ireland competition this year, so for Meath it will be just a Leinster campaign.
